Post planning-decision process: Ensuring the delivery of high-quality developments in Cardiff

Housing development is a lengthy and multi-step process; starting from the initial stages of planning permission proposal to when realised on-site. Each stage seemingly impacts how developments are delivered; however, research limited into why quality has been seen weaken in post planning-decision (i.e. after granted). This paper uses case study Cardiff explore whether key UK management process could be improved influence delivery high-quality housing developments. Using semi-structured interviews, this investigates perceptions professionals towards requirement applicability methods, covering following issues: a) role actors influencing outcomes during b) factors hindering implementation developments; c) involved can improve The findings show that principally perceive inadequate local authority resource, enforcement powers, lack on-site monitoring hinderances ensuring developer compliance, which an extent, bearing on Furthermore, difference attitudes knowledge aspirations uncovered, reveals have considerable outcome quality. However, where resource may available, some mechanisms proposed by as potential improving process.
